Athletes from over 30 countries gathered in Milton for an exciting inaugural World Cup in Milton
Over the weekend, Milton, Ont. hosted the third round of the 2017-2018 UCI track cycling World Cup. It was a cracking event with world champions, a full Canadian squad and athletes from over 30 countries competing. It was the first time Canada hosted a track World Cup since Victoria did so 1998.

Canadian highlights included a gold medal for the women’s team pursuit and three silver medals for the team. The men’s team pursuit crash overshadowed their excellent weekend during which they set a new Canadian record and walked away with a silver medal. Jasmin Duehring earned a silver in the points race in the opening session. Finally, less than an hour after racing the team pursuit, Allison Beveridge sealed the silver medal in the women’s omnium.

Great Britain was the dominant force on the weekend earning a total of 10 medals. German sprinter Kristina Vogel continued her World Cup streak alive winning the sprint, team sprint and keirin.
