Worlds Update: More Aussie gold in men’s under-23 time trial, Houle 26th

Australia continued its fine start to the 2011 World Road Cycling Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark by winning its second gold of the day. Luke Durbridge followed up countrywoman Jessica Allen taking the junior rainbow stripes in the time trial by being the only under-23 male to finish the 35.2 km course in under 43 minutes. “Durbo the Turbo” was 35 seconds faster than Dane Rasmus Christian Quaade. Fellow Aussie Michael Hepburn rose from a crash to take the bronze.

The top Canadian was Hugo Houle of Ste. Perpétue, Quebec at 26th, 2:54 in arrears of Durbridge. Riverview, New Brunswick’s Stuart Wight finished 5:54 behind the champion.
