Imagine you’re riding down the climb after watching the finish of a Tour de France stage and you spot your hero cycling back as well, and he needs a pump. Well, that happened to Michele Pelacci.

Pelacci tweeted that he was riding with his brother, and the then punctured after Tuesday’s stage that finished on the Col de Granon.

“We stop at the side of the road to replace the inner tube. Who stops five minutes later? Wout van Aert.”

The Italian then tweeted that van Aert was in the same boat.  He hadn’t punctured, but his tire was a bit low, but had no means to inflate it. “He asked for a pump, an English guy hands it to him, who says Wout you’re a legend!”

Then, the best part. Van Aert told him, “I have something for you.”

The Belgian rider then started unzipping his green jersey. “Here you go, it’s yours,” van Aert told him.

Pelacci was thrilled for the keepsake. “What have I learned from this? Be the first to pass the pump to Wout van Aert, he might give you a crazy heirloom in return.”

What an incredible memory for any fan.
