After this year’s snowy, miserable Milan-San Remo, pros might grimace at the thought of riding the 294-km course. But amateurs can test their mettle on the Monument’s parcours at much more favourable time of year.

The 44th Milan-San Remo Cyclosportive will run June 18, 2014, nearly three months after the pros ride route in northern Italy. Union Cicloturistica San Remo started the event in 1970 as a response to a lack of sportives like at the time. Today, UC San Remo and Nyala Wonder Travel, an Italian travel company specializing in niche tours, organize the cyclosportive. Registration is now open and closes May 31, 2014.

Milan-San Remo is considered a sprinter’s race, but if you’re not a sprinter, well, you can always attack on the Poggio.
