For those in Windsor, Ont., whose love of riding is matched only by a love of art, an event happening this Saturday, Oct. 1 that will scratch two itches at once.

Hosted by Bike Windsor Essex, the Urban Art tour, the Windsor Star reports, is open to riders of all skill levels.

Similar to events happening in other Ontario cities, such as Toronto’s ongoing tours of the Pan Am Path, the ride makes a veritable gallery experience of an autumn morning’s cycling excursion. “This is for anyone and every level of riding,” Bike Windsor Essex executive director Lori Newton told the Windsor Star. “We will take along as many who show up. Even families are welcomed as it will be a very slow ride to look at all the art.”

The ride will cover 6 km, winding through the heart of Windsor to Walkerville and Ford City, Newton said. “Then,” she added, “we will make our way to the river and back downtown at Maiden Lane where people can also explore the [downtown] market.” Aiding in the excursion will be speakers at some of the ride’s stops, explaining the details of the exhibition. For those who want to take a more independent approach, though, an app created by Bike Windsor Essex is also be available, allowing riders to follow along on their own whenever they wish.

The free event kicks off at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1, and is expected to take about 90 minutes. Further information is available at bikewindsoressex.com.
