Watch: Shimano Gran Fondo look-back captures highlights of the ride

The short film relives the day from registration to start line to finish

On Aug. 27, the 2017 Shimano Gran Fondo rolled out on Pido Road in Peterborough, Ont., following two routes. From 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., participating riders left the start in blocks, grouped according to their average speeds, taking two routes through the verdant, picturesque Peterborough countryside.

The shorter of the two routes was a 102-km haul, broken up by two rest stations for riders to eat, regroup and re-hydrate. The longer haul was a 143-km ride, fully supported, with a few climbs thrown into the mix, too.

Put simply, the 2017 Shimano Gran Fondo was a ride to remember. If you missed it, though, an movie—filmed by Chris Monette, in partnership with the Fretori project—has been released, capturing the day’s events from the start line through every stage of the ride, right up to the concluding lunch and raffle that wrapped things up.

Soon, Fretori will announce details about 2018’s events, scheduled for June and August. Also, check out the Fretori surprise winter package. What’s inside? Who knows? But, ordering the package will get you 10 per cent off those 2018 Fretori events. The last day to order is Friday.
