Watch Molano smack Page during Stage 6 of the Dauphiné, and after too

The Colombian rider was later disqualified for his actions

Stage 6 of the Dauphiné had plenty of fireworks, but it also had a bit of boxing. UAE-Team Emirates UAE’s Juan Sebastian Molano was arguing with France’s Hugo Page toward the finish of the race, and then smacked Page on his lid.

But the pugilism with Page didn’t stop there. As soon as the race ended, Molano headed over to the Frenchman’s team bus after the race for round two. After some more intense arguing, Molano gave Page a second slap.

It was unclear just what the Colombian’s beef was, but it does seem that in the first incident, Page may have accidentally weaved into Molano’s line.

A few hours later, Molano was disqualified. “On the run-in to the finish it was fast and tense and in the heat of the moment I made a dangerous mistake. I’d like to apologize to Hugo Page and to all the riders for what happened,” his team posted on his behalf, on Twitter. “I understand why I was disqualified and can only say I regret it and learn from it.”
