Bardet's victory was his third career Tour win.

On July 13, Romain Bardet won a top the Peyragudes climb in the Pyrenees on Stage 12 of the Tour de France. The Strava activity for the stage became the most kudoed activity of 2017 receiving the little organge thumbs up from 22,736 Strava users.

Bardet titled the activity, ‘TDF #12 : HANDS UP =D‘. It was the only stage the Frenchman would win on his way to finishing third overall behind eventual winner Chris Froome and Rigoberto Uran. While Bardet’s victory punctuated the day, Fabio Aru snatched the yellow jersey from Chris Froome’s shoulders moving six seconds ahead of the Brit in the overall standings though only briefly.

The stage was a grueling 215 km slog through the mountains featuring six categorized climbs. Bardet officially covered the distance in 5:49:38 with an average speed of 36.81 km/h. Strava recorded a total elevation gain of 4,398 m. It was an activity well worth receiving some recognition for winning.

In their year-end roundup, Strava also revealed some other interesting data. Users on the social media training platform gave a mind-boggling total of 2,268,669,189 kudos in 2017. Strava cyclists logged a total of 203 rides worldwide with 1.2 million of them being longer than a century (160 km).

Over the year there was a 20 per cent chance the receiver of your kudos reciprocated with kudos within 24 hours while that number increased to 70 per cent they’d give one of your activities kudos eventually.

The most kudoed activity in the United States was an activity logged by Erik Binggeser in February in Austin, Texas. The activity which lasted 3 hours and 43 minutes only covered 53 km but it was what was done during the ride which received the attention. The activity was titled ‘Saturday. New record for slowest average speed? Pokémon and beer and so much wheelie practice. Hands are wrecked. Ed.‘ and received 6,938 kudos. His activity which combined beer, Pokémon and wheelies over the course of a leisure ride sounds more enjoyable than riding flat out in the Pyrenees for over five hours which is what Bardet needed to do to get the most kudos worldwide.
