Canadian cyclists to ride high in the saddle during the inaugural Women’s WorldTour coming this year
Last fall, the UCI announced that, for the first time ever, there will be a Women’s WorldTour featuring 17 events, gilded by some of the top riders and top teams on the planet.
Further announcements about the teams of 2016 have been made, with particular interest this time for Canadian cycling fans.
After overcoming a mid-race tactical error, Canada ended the day with Joelle Numainville in 11th and Karol-Ann Canuel in 13th, both near the front of the second group across the line of the 129.8km elite women’s race.
The first event of the 2015 UCI World Road Championships in Richmond, Virginia saw Canada’s Karol-Ann Canuel’s Velocio-SRAM take its fourth consecutive women’s team time trial title, earning Canuel her second gold medal.
