Jet Fuel-Norco’s Travis Samuel signs with Start-Trigon

jfuelLast week Jet Fuel – Norco announced that one of their top up and comers Travis Samuel will finish his season with another squad. Samuel signed with Start-Trigon, a South African continental team based in Europe. Samuel flew to Europe following his under-23 win at the Ontario Road Race Championships. He completed his first race for his new team on Saturday in Germany. “My first race with them was the Sparkassen Giro; an 80-km criterium. I finished 31st. Even though it was only 80km, I think it shows that my form is coming along for the last bit of the season,” said Samuel.

The team is a smaller squad whose headquarters are in Maldegem, Belgium. “The support system is very small but so far so good,” said  Samuel. His contract only runs through until December 31 – thus the next month of racing will prove of be absolutely crucial for the second year under-23 rider. Samuel is hopeful for good results in every race he does while keeping an open mindset. Thanks to an eight week stint in Europe earlier this year Samuel knows that targeting any race in Europe is a challenge given the number of variables and high level of competition. “There are still many races left of the calendar so hopefully there will be lots of opportunities for me,” said Samuel.

Since joining the Jet Fuel – Norco squad two years ago, Samuel has undergone a steady progression. He has  raced in a myriad of local races where he has built confidence while testing the waters in higher level races throughout North America and Europe. His former squad is meant to serve as a stepping stone to help riders make a jump like Samuel. The Jet Fuel – Norco team is thrilled with this happening as it confirms the merits of their program.
