Gord Fraser of Silber Pro Cycling at the 2015 Tour of Alberta

Silber Pro Cycling directeur sportif Gord Fraser employed what he called “loose tactics” to the Tour of Alberta.

“We didn’t really have a big plan going into the Tour of Alberta because the level of competition is really high,” he said. “We wanted to take advantage of every day, take as many opportunities as we can. Pretty much everybody had the green light to do the race that [he could].”

That’s play-it-by-ear opportunism served the team well. Ben Perry, who worked hard the whole tour to get into breakaways, finished the six-day event with the KOM jersey on his back. It seems Fraser, a former pro rider with more than 200 wins to his name, knows a thing or two about reading a race.
