10 B.C.-based mountain bikers to follow this winter

Gravity riders to keep you entertained from the land where winter is only a suggestion

We’re sticking to “trail” rating or above for this list, a gravity fueled update on our more race-oriented round-up of Instagram elite earlier this year. With some well-known names, a few racers, and a few riders newer to the scene, here’s 10 British Columbia-based riders whose online feeds are especially entertaining, inspiring, or both.

Yoann Barelli (@yoannbarelli)

Yoann Barelli’s feed is full of wild laughter and genuine joy for riding bikes. It’s also home to his questionably helpful, always entertaining #tutoTuesdays quasi-instructional videos, full of helpful tips like “Step 7: somehow pull it back together.” Follow for the enthusiasm or follow for the creative and sketchy lines, but be sure to follow.

Casey Brown (@Caseybrowntown)

Based out of her Revelstoke, B.C. home, you can expect to see Casey Brown posting impressive video and photos of her riding at home and around the world. You can also expect a nice balance of off-season and day-to-day life, including her dog, Snuff.

Jesse Melamed (@jessemelamed)

Follow Rocky Mountain’s EWS racer Jesse Melamed for impressive riding near his Whistler, B.C. home as well as reports from his training and racing around the world.

Chris Kovarik (@chris_kovarik)

Whistler based coach of Kovarik Racing, Chris Kovarik is always good for a good drift clip. You’ll also see his rad Kovarik Racing crew racing DH around B.C. all summer. Cool kids sending it and Kovarik’s full-throttle riding make for a consistently entertaining feed.

Micayla Gatto  (@micaylagatto)

Micayla Gatto’s Instagram features a nicely balanced mix of her impressive riding and her art career. Gatto worked with IFHT Films (@ifhtfilms) on the #ferdagirls video for Dirt Diaries during Crankworx Whistler this summer. Follow the former-DH national champion and World Cup racer for adventures on and off the bike, as well as her outdoor-inspired art.

Geoff Gulevich (@geoffgulevich)

North Shore veteran, Geoff Gulevich is known for his buttery smooth style on North Vancouvers roughest trails. Follow Gulevich as he rides at home and around the globe.

Skyler Des Roches (@skylerdesroches)

Skyler Des Roches splits his time between Alberta and B.C., so expect to see a slightly different perspective than the mainly costal riders on this list. Des Roches also splits his time between trail riding and bikepacking, so follow for good riding and stunning scenery way off the grid.

Mark Matthews (@markeymath)

Follow Vancouver Island born Mark Matthews for stylish riding and big lines as he explores around his home province and beyond. Recently featured riding in Kananaskis for SR Suntour [link]

The Nomads (@thenomadsmtb)

https://www.instagram.com/p/BbC4PQMjZgb/?hl=en
This independent enduro team is made up of Chris Johnston and Dylan Wolsky, from New Zealand and Australia originally but who’ve made B.C. their home. While enduro is their focus, and the main feature on the Nomads’ feed, these two aren’t afraid of a little climbing and are known to make appearances at XCM events like BCBR and Pemberton’s NIMBY50.

Dylan Sherrard (@dylansherrard)

Before moving to Kamloops to chase dreams of fast corners and big jumps, Dylan Sherrard grew up in Whitehorse, Yukon. Sherrard’s positively stoked on riding bikes at all times, so follow him for good vibes, great pixels, and killer riding from the B.C. interior.
