Raphaël Gagné wins Pan American championships in Aguascalientes
Kate Courtney wins women's race with Catharine Pendrel in fourth in Mexico
Raphaël Gagné picked up his first international win of the season, winning the Pan American continental championships on Saturday in Mexico.
Catharine Pendrel nearly added a second podium finish for the Canadian team. The 2016 Olympic bronze medallist was fourth in Aguascalientes on Saturday. She was just 9 seconds behind Daniela Campuzano of the host nation, Mexico.
Elite Men’s Race – Pan American Championships: Aguascalientes, Mexico
Raphaël Gagné scored Canada’s only podium finish in Mexico, winning the Pan American continental championships on Saturday.
Jose Arevalo of Mexico took second, followed by Colombia’s Fabio Castañeda.
Léandre Bouchard followed not far behind in seventh. Canada’s Quinton Disera was sixth in the under-23 men’s race earlier in the day.
Elite Men’s Race – Pan American Championships: Aguascalientes, Mexico
Kate Courtney showed why she’s wearing the rainbow jersey this season, winning the women’s elite race in Aguascalientes. Fellow American Erin Huck joined Courtney on the podium, finishing second, followed by Mexico’s Daniela Campuzano.
Catharine Pendrel finished just off the podium, in sixth. Emily Batty finished sixth, in her first race of the 2019 season. Sandra Walter was ninth.
