Emmy Lan landed her fourth Enduro World Cup (formerly Enduro World Series) win of 2023 in Val di Fassa, Italy over the weekend. The Forbidden Synthesis rider from Vancouver Island moves further into the under-21 women’s overall lead with the victory.

Lan wasn’t the only Canadian on the podium in Italy, though. Elly Hoskin joined her on the under-21 women’s podium while Johnathan Helly matched that result in the under-21 men’s race.

Pro men and women

While Canada’s u21s had a phenomenal weekend, the pros had a rare week of finishing off (though still close to) the podium. Jesse Melamed (Canyon Cllctv) was the top-ranked Canuck in fifth. Rhys Verner, hot off his first win, placed 10th, also for Forbidden Synthesis.

With Jack Menzies (Polygon Factory) 12th, Remi Gauvin (Rocky Mountain Race Face) 15th and McKay Vezina (Giant Factory Off-Road Team) 16th, it was still a very strong week for the Canadian contingent.

Matt Walker won the pro men’s race, his first victory. Alex Rudeau and Richie Rude rounded out the podium. With that result, Rude takes the leader’s jersey back from Melamed.

Andreanne Lanthier Nadeau (Rocky Mountain Race Face) led the Canadian women in eighth. That race was won by Isabeau Courdurier with Morgane Charre and Melanie Puin making it an all-French pro women’s podium.

Under-21 men and women

Emmy Lan earned her fourth win of the season, but it was not unchallenged. France’s Lily Planquart won three of the five race stages in Val di Fassa, only to arrive late to a stage start and earn a five-minute penalty. Climbing is part of enduro, though, even if it doesn’t usually appear on the results sheet so obviously.

That penalty moved Sophie Riva up into second place, just ahead of Canada’s Elly Hoskin. Lily Boucher (Rocky Mountain Race Face) was close behind in seventh.

On the under-21 men’s side, Johnathan Helly earned himself a podium for We Are One Composites, finishing third behind France’s Lisandru Bertini (Lapierre Zipp) and Alexis Icardo (Canyon Cllctv Dianese).

Wei Tien Ho and Lief Rodgers (Giant Canada) joined Helly in the top 10, finishing sixth and seventh in Val di Fassa.
