Traverse the Canadian Arctic by bike in The Frozen Road

Solo bike trip across remote wilderness takes unexpected turns in self-shot documentary

The Frozen Road : Ben Page

The Frozen Road, Ben Page’s film documenting his solo journey across the Canadian Arctic, is now available online in its entirety. The adventure film is free to watch online, though Page is accepting donations to help offset his costs in making the film. Compelled by Jack London’s assertion that “any man who is a man can travel alone,” Page sought out complete solitude by riding his bike across the Canadian Arctic. Shot at edited while on a cycling journey around the world, The Frozen Road documents what happens after Page finds himself very alone, deep in the unforgiving wilderness of Canada’s North. The reality of the experience ends up a long way from the romantic imagining of solo travel across the tundra that motivated the journey. The film is quite honest in its account of what happens when the idea of an adventure are markedly different than the reality of what takes place. Watch the full film online though Ben Page Films, where you can also find a PayPal link to donate to cover the films costs.

If you’re in Vancouver, The Frozen Road will be playing as part of the Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival’s 2018 program. VIMFF runs from Feb 9 – 17 in venues around Greater Vancouver
