Hemstreet and Goldstone dominate Lenzerheide World Cup
Four Canucks in the top-10 in Switzerland

Canada’s two top juniors were back on form on Saturday in Lenzerheide. Both Jackson Goldston and Gracey Hemstreet stormed to big wins on the Swiss track. With their matching wins, both young Canadians are in the World Cup leader’s jersey at the half-way point of this year’s season.
Junior Men: Goldstone back on top, and not alone
After qualifying second by a razor-thin 0.009 seconds on Friday, Jackson Goldstone (The Syndicate) turned it on for finals. Canada’s junior world champion started steady and built speed towards the finish, taking the win by 1.513 seconds. Lachlan Stevens-McNab (Union) takes second and Jordan Williams (Madison-Saracen) third. With that Goldstone re-takes the overall leader’s jersey, holding 220 points to Williams’ 210.
Rossland, B.C.’s Bodhi Kuhn had a big result, finishing fifth in Lenzerheide. Wei Tien Ho of Whistler, B.C. followed right behind in sixth in his first race in Europe this year.
Tegan Cruz (RockShox Trek) finished in 13th and Elijah Barron (Gravity MTB) in 22nd. Tristan Lemire (Commencal Muc-Off) was in the top-10 through the top part of the course before his rear derailleur sheared off and went into the spokes, ending his run early.
Junior women: Hemstreet makes it three
Gracey Hemstreet (Norco Factory Team) added a third win, and fourth podium, to her incredible 2022 season. The Sunshine Coast racer took the win Saturday over Phoebe Gale (Canyon FMD), her rival for the World Cup overall. Hemstreet’s win on Sunday adds to her wins in Fort William and Lourdes earlier this season.
With the win Saturday, Hemstreet extends her points lead. She now holds 225 points to Gale’s 210 in the World Cup overall race.
Joy Attalla of Fernie, B.C. landed 12th in her first European World Cup of this season.
