Léandre Bouchard ends season with silver in Greece

Léandre Bouchard ended his season on a high note, taking second place in the Kos Island stage race in Greece on Sunday.

Along the way, Bouchard took the a win in the XCO stage on Saturday.  The Pivot Cycles-OTE racers also earned two second place finishes, adding up to second overall in the Greek race.

On Friday, he was second in the XC Marathon stage, just one minute behind the XCM world champion Hector Leonardo Paez Leon of Colombia.

Bouchard was also second in Sunday’s short track XC, to hold onto second overall in the race.

Kos Island MTB race is a UCI S1 classified race, so Bouchard’s silver earns him 100 UCI points going into 2020’s season.

Today we did the xco race of this stage race here on Kos. I had a really good day on the bike! I could ride with full focus and commitment and was capable of leaving everything out there. This year I didn’t have many race days feeling this way, so I am so happy that things are starting to move in the right direction. Today I took the win and extended my lead in the overall classification. Tomorrow is last day and on the menue we have a 30min short track. ? No matter what will happen, I already feel that I can take so much good mojo with me into off season and that’s actually what matters the most to me! ? . @iamspecialized_mtb . ? @bonnethomas

Annika Langvad ends rough season with a win in Greece

After her World Cup season was derailed by injury, 2016 XCO world champion Annika Langvad (Specialized) landed a win at Kos Stage race. The Danish riders bad luck almost followed her to Greece, though. After establishing a solid lead over the first three days, Langvad flatted in Sunday’s short track XC race. Langvad rode out the flat, losing time, but not the overall GC title.

Polish Olympic silver medallist Maja Wloszczowska (Kross Racing) was second, with Corendon-Circus’s Ronja Eibl in third. American Lea Davison (Clif Pro Team) was fourth, 2 min. 13 sec. behind Eibl.
