Music, beer, and family friendly fat bike racing combine at Muskoka Winter Bike Festival
Inaugural event combines live music, beer tasting event and fat bike race in one weekend
Spend your day riding on Deerhurst Resorts groomed winter bike trails before a night of blues and local craft beer. The first annual Muskoka Winter Bike Festival will take place on Feb. 10, 2018 in Huntsville, Ont. in conjunction with the second year of Untapped with Muskoka Blues Connection, presented by Muskoka Brewery. The bike festival combines family friendly bike events, including a fat bike race, bike demos, a bonfire and chili tasting, with the Untapped event’s evening of live music, local food, and craft beer tasting.
The fat bike race and bike demo will take place on the groomed trails surrounding Deerhurst Resort. The 11 km loop winds through the woods between the resort and the lake, even crossing onto the very frozen lake for one section. Riders will be separated out into three starts, with experienced racers going first, before beginners and those new to the sport and, finally, a kids race for those 12 and under. Organizers are recommending a minimum tire width of 2.5” to avoid damage to the trails, some of which are also used for skiing. A bonfire, chili tasting, and live entertainment will greet racers when they cross the finish line.
