Update: Jr. Sizing now available in Catharine Pendrel’s custom rainbows and unicorns Garneau kit
Olympic bronze medalist's focus is on fun for limited edition design
UPDATE: Catharine Pendrel and Garneau have made her custom “rainbows and unicorns” limited edition kit available in a range of five different junior sizes. After the Pendrel-designed kit was released at the end of January, there was enough response requesting the additional, junior sizes that Garneau agreed to make the smaller sizes available for purchase. Interested riders should note that the order window for this custom Garneau kit design from Pendrel still closes on Feb. 11, and it will only be available by pre-order online through Garneau.
“Fun is fast!” is the inspiration behind Catharine Pendrel’s custom Garneau kit design. It’s also an approach to racing that’s brought the three time Canadian Olympian considerable success on the race course, including a bronze medal at the Rio Olympics in 2016. So when Garneau asked Pendrel to design a kit for their pro racer limited edition series, she jumped right to this very fun, bright pattern. As for the specific choice of the mythical creature and rainbow pairing, Pendrel chose “rainbows and unicorns for the kid in my that gets inspired by the idea of magic and wonder and also the adult that knows a big part of finding the best in yourself on any given day is believing that anything is possible.”
“Fun is what keeps you motivated and loving what you do. It is what allows you to put in big hours in tough weather, to smile when you’re exhausted or discouraged, to see a race as an exciting challenge rather than a sufferfest and to keep your goals in perspective when they take longer to fulfill than you had hoped” says Pendrel of her “Fast is fun” approach. “Keeping fun at the essence of what i do, even when it’s time to get serious, is what keeps me striving for more.”
If you want to bring a little magic and sunshine with you on your rides this summer, Garneau is offering up Pendrel’s rainbows and unicorns kit as a limited edition design, available for pre-order only. The order window closes February 11th, and orders are expected to ship approximately four weeks later, right around the time the first World Cup XCO takes place in South Africa.
