When and where to watch: Les Gets super World Cup

Hot on the heels of the Union Cycliste Internationale’s (UCI) first “super worlds,” combining almost all cycling disciplines, France’s Haute-Savoie region is hosting the first-ever super World Cup event. Based in Les Gets, Châtel and Morzine, this 10-day World Cup combines all the mountain bike events together into one big event.

Sort of.

The 10-day schedule is, realistically, two World Cup weekends in Haute-Savoie. But all the disciplines will be there together and it will be a thrilling 10 days of racing. Downhill, short track cross country (XCC) and Olympic distance cross country (XCO) make for a busy first weekend. That starts on Thursday, Sept. 7 with under-23 XCC and junior downhill qualifying. Elite and u23 XCO racing wraps up the first half of the Haute Savoie World Cup on Sunday, Sept. 10.

After a few day’s break, enduro World Cup and cross country marathon World Cup racing take over. Haute-Savoie is the final round of the 2023 season for the enduro racers. With a few Canadians in the mix for overall EDR World Cup titles, it should be an especially dramatic finale for Canuck fans.

Haute-Savoie is also the final European World Cup of the 2023 season. After 10 days in France, racing heads to Snowshoe, West Virginia for the penultimate round before wrapping up right here in Canada at Mont-Sainte-Anne.

The Haute-Savoie super World Cup will be split up into Discovery’s mis-mash of coverage options, free and subscription-based.

Under-23 XCO, Junior downhill finals and elite downhill semi-finals will be shown free on the UCI Mountain Bike World Series YouTube channel, live and replays. That’s also where you’ll find the recap of the enduro World Cup finals.

Elite XCC, XCO and downhill finals will all require a subscription to watch live and in full. In Canada, that’s GCN.

Unless something changes, there will continue to be no broadcast coverage of XCM World Cup racing.
