Michael Barry auctioning off custom frame for charity

Team Sky rider teams up with Velocolour artist to design one-of-a-kind Pinarello

Michael Barry and renowned bike frame painter Noah Rosen have been friends for nearly their entire lives. So it didn’t take long for the two to come up with a project to raise money for Canadian sports-related charity Right To Play. Barry, a professional cyclist racing for Team Sky, and Rosen, the man behind Velocolour, a custom frame painter, have collaborated to design a custom-painted Pinarello Prince frame and fork. It’s a 55 cm carbon fibre frame with a tapered headtube and weighs 990 g.

Here’s the description of the build:
When they were children, Noah and Michael spent hours riding their bikes up and down neighborhood streets in North Toronto. Once the sun had set they would retire to Noah’s basement to play pinball. With those fond memories they began to design this Pinarello carbon fibre frame. Noah explained, “Within the project and the design there are elements of our youth, which tie it all together.”

The Pinarello frameset is being auctioned on eBay with the closing date set for July 15. You can find the auction HERE If you want to check the bike out in person, Blacksmith Cycles on Queen St. at Dovercourt in Toronto has the frame on display until the end of the auction.

The frame was photographed by Walter Lai for the image. You can see more photos of the project on Rosen’s Flickr page HERE.
