Garrigan and Dreyer win Paris to Ancaster

Briton Roger Hammond finishes 55th on the day.

Mike Garrigan and Mandy Dreyer were the winners of the men’s and women’s categories at the 19th annual Paris to Ancaster held on Sunday. The pair started the Classics-style 60 km race under rainy conditions with some 2,000 other participants.

“The Paris to Ancaster race is my favourite race because it’s so inclusive,” said Garrigan who won it on two previous occasions. “It’s great that international riders are coming out to this event, and I’m hoping to see more of them join us in the years ahead.”

Garrigan finished the race in 1:45 ahead of runner-up Aaron Schooler and Nathan Chown in third. Retired professional cyclist from Great Britain, Roger Hammond was one of the biggest names to line up on the start line. He finished 55th on the day, nearly 23 minutes behind Garrigan.

On the women’s side, Dreyer won the race in 2:12 besting Jennifer Crake in second place and Leigh Hobson in third. Karsten Madsen and Nathalie Mousseau won their respective categories in the 23 km race.
