While it’s almost spring, technically, things are looking pretty winter out there. You’re probably going a little stir crazy, or trainer crazy. To combat that seasonal loopyness just get out there.

The Shimano MW81 will protect your feet from the cold and wet. A Gore-Tex liner helps move moisture out and keep rain and snow from getting in. The high neoprene collar has a hook-and-loop fastener to snug things up at your ankle. It prevents snow from slipping in. If you’re riding through deep puddles and the boots get drenched, the neoprene will still work to keep you warm. Each shoe has three wide hook-and-loop straps to secure things to each foot. The width of the straps mean that when you really reef on them to make things tight, the pressure is well distributed on the top of the foot, keeping you comfortable. Overlays at the toe and heel offer extra protection and abrasion resistance.

The sole has well-place lugs for traction off the bike. If you are hitting the cyclocross course with these boots, you can add spikes beneath the toes. The sole gets added stiffness from a shank beneath the arch.

The inside of the shoe provides a lot of space for thick socks, but you’ll only need them in really cold conditions. The Gore-Tex working in conjunction with the fleece-lined insole means your feet will be well insulated in the deep freeze.

With MW81 boots, it won’t be the foul weather that keeps you from riding. Price: $285.
