Two days before the men’s elite race at the cyclocross world championships, Canadian CX champion Mike Garrigan spoke about the upcoming event. Garrigan discusses the course in Tabor, Czech Republic and shares a story of how things got scrappy at the hotel the Canadians are sharing with the Italian team.

“I know the [junior Canadians] can keep their elbows out,” Garrigan said.  For him, that’s a good indication that those riders, which include Oliver Evans, Quinton Disera, Willem Boersma, Liam Mulcahy and Stefan Ritter, will be able to handle themselves during their race on Saturday.

With rumours circulating about a possible cyclocross World Cup in Montreal next season, Garrigan talks about what such an event could mean for North American fans. “I think it would be awesome,” he said. “If they are early season, they are not going to affect the big series that the Belgians want to do, like the Superprestige and the GVA. They’re still going to be able to get back for those. If most of the elites are doing the two big races, [the rumoured Las Vegas and Montreal World Cup events], then it could be fun.”
