Canadian Paracyclists head to road Worlds

The UCI Para-Cycling Road World Championships take place in Greenville, South Carolina this weekend. a team of 22 Canadians will race at the Worlds to cap off a successful World Cup season in which the nation has ranked fourth in the world. The competition takes place from August 29 to September 1, 2014.

The team has travelled to South Carolina following a successful training camp in Bromont, Quebec. Not only are individual performances at Worlds of great importance, but results will count towards points that will determine the size of the team Canada can bring to the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.

Shelley Gautier will aim to defend her World title performance from 2013. Gautier has dominated the World Cup season, winning the white jersey of the World Cup champion.

Seven Canadians have won medals at World Cup races this season, including; Jaye Milley, Marie-Eve Croteau, Ross Wilson, Marie-Claude Molnar, Nicole Clermont, Daniel Chalifour, and Alexandre Cloutier.

Just another day on the bike pushing the limits. Look out World Championships! No such word as can’t!
