Curtis Dearden wins the elite men’s time trial championships

Meier and Cataford on second and third steps of the podium

On Friday, Curtis Dearden won the 2013 men’s national time trial championships. The rider from Russ Hay Racing finished the 39-km course that ran out and back from Saint-Benoît-Labre, Que., with a time of 48:24. He placed 13 seconds faster than Christian Meier of Orica-GreenEdge and 58 seconds ahead of Alexander Cataford of Garneau-Quebecor, the highest-placed under-23 rider. The 2012 wearer of the maple-leaf jersey, Svein Tuft, did not start in the 2013 edition.
