David Veilleux chosen to ride in the 2013 Tour de France

Cap-Rouge, Que., rider will support his teammates at La grande boucle

On Monday, David Veilleux announced on his website that it was official, he has been chosen to ride with his team Europcar in this year’s Tour de France. “I’ll be at the Tour de France!” the cyclist from Cap-Rouge, Que., wrote.

It is now official. My team chose me to participate in the Tour de France 2013. I am extremely pleased with this news. This is a childhood dream come true and all my years of perseverance and discipline have been rewarded. The Tour is the ultimate cycling event, but is also seen as one of the world’s most demanding sporting events. At the same time, I would like to thank my family and all those who helped me over the years to achieve my dream, especially my fiancée, who has always been there to support me. At the start, on June 29, I will be well rested and get ready to support my teammates Thomas Voeckler and Pierre Rolland on the roads of France.

On June 2, a Quebec news organization had announced that Veilleux would be going to the Tour. But Monday’s announcement makes it official.
