Explore the shores of Lake Huron in the Bluewater International Granfondo

If you are looking for a mid-summer event that will give you an opportunity to visit the scenic roads around Lake Huron, a new gran fondo that will take place in Sarnia-Lambton will debut on July 31. The Bluewater International Granfondo will offer the Sarnia 50-km, the Lambton 100-km and the Bluewater 150-km routes through the northern part of Lambton County. All profits from the event will be donated to St. Joseph Hospice and the palliative care at Bluewater Health.

The Sarnia is a flat 50-km route that starts in Mike Weir Park that is ideal for experienced cyclists looking for a relaxed ride with friends or newer cyclists looking for a challenge with the comfort of knowing ride captains will be available at all times along the route. The Lambton is a 100-km scenic route along quiet country roads that passes through farmland and fruit orchards with a 2-km climb in the middle. The Bluewater is a 150-km route that starts off flat but has a middle section full of rolling hills, which is popular with local cyclists and offers a harder, longer day in the saddle.

Welcoming new and experienced cyclists, the event is emphasising the health benefits of cycling. Organizers expect to attract 300 to 500 participants from Canada and the United States. Participants will be treated to live music and a hot meal at the finish.

Register by May 31 to receive an early-bird discount and ensure your Giordana event jersey is ready on race day. Uno Imports, who brings Giordana and Pinarello bikes to Canada, is a partner of the event. Upon registering, you will also be entered into a draw to win a seven day cycling trip for two in Italy. Update
The Bluewater International Granfondo announced on April 18 that it will be the first Canadian event on the Giordana Gran Fondo National Championship Series. In the inaugural event a Giordana Italian Cycling Jersey will be included as part of the registration fee.
