Canada’s representation at the 2015 UCI road para-cycling world cup finals in Pietermaritzburg, Africa has been chosen, and you might recognize a few of the names — especially after the tour de force that was the 2015 Toronto Parapan Am Games.

Toronto’s Shelley Gautier, who will be defending her world championship in the road races and time trial, will be competing to take the white jersey, the award given to the best overall paracyclist of the 2015 season. She’s in a solid position to contend, currently sitting at second place in World Cup rankings just behind Yulia Sibagatova, the current white jersey-wearing leader. At 112 points, Gautier trails Sibagatova by 52, something no doubt influences by the Canadian paracyclist having missed the third World Cup installation of the series.

Nicole Clermont, meanwhile, a product of St-Denis de Brompton, QC, occupies third place in the C5 ranking with a total of 88 points. It’s a standing furnished by taking three podium finishes in four races during the 2015 season. Unfortunately for Clermont, though, such standings won’t earn her a spot at the top of the podium once competition wraps up this weekend in Pietermaritzburg. Clermont’s point differential, despite her performances, eclipses the total points available at the World Cup finals.

On the other hand, Marie-Claude Molnar, hailing from St-Hubert, QC., is well-positioned to rocket to second-place standings if all goes well. Currently in fourth place, the 31-year-old rider is one good performance each in the road race and time trial away from clinching an overall top three place in her class.

The ten riders representing Canada, all of whom will compete in the time trial and road races, include:
