Riders woke up to a snow-covered course in Suffern, New York for the second day of Supercross Cup, the third round of the Northeast Cyclocross Series. The weekend opened up with sunny skies and Canadian cylocross champion took a convincing win in the elite women’s race. That trend continued with Maghalie Rochette of Clif Bar racing riding away on the snowy, wet and muddy course for her second victory in as many days.

Cassie Maximenko got the holeshot but Rochette quickly blew by and seized the lead opening up a gap in the opening turns of the race. With superior technical riding and power, Rochette’s gap went out and while still on the same lap she was out of sight of the second place rider Becca Fahringer.

The wind picked up throughout the race and with two laps to go, Rochette had a gap of over a minute to her nearest chasers. Behind, Crystal Anthony managed to real back some time to pass Fahringer and take second place on course. Rochette’s lead was up to 1:45 in the races final turns and she would cross the line victorious for the second day in a row extending her lead in the four race series which wraps up at NBX Gran Prix of ’Cross in Warwick, Rhode Island on Dec. 3 and 4.

In the elite men’s race, Canadian champion Jérémy Martin put on a show using his technical prowess to real in Curtis White in the races final lap only to narrowly miss out on the win finishing in second place.

White got the early lead and held onto it for almost the entire race. Day 1 winner Jack Kisseberth and Martin were the first to mount the chase but other joined in. With four to go, White had a comfortable lead but with three to go Martin passed Kisseberth and began mounting a relentless chase of the race leader. As White heard the bell lap, Martin was rapidly making up ground and mid-way through the races final lap the Focus CX Team Canada rider caught and then attacked White.

In the final turns Martin continued to lead but White kept him in sight and finally when he made his move it was to much for Martin to respond. Series leader White took the win with Martin second and Kisseberth in third.
