On Tuesday, Argon 18, the Montreal-based bicycle manufacturer, announced that it would be providing bicycles, service and a funding to a team currently competing in the Tour de France. The company also said that it could not reveal the team until after the Tour because of contractual obligations. The agreement is for a three-year term.

“This is a historic announcement for our brand and for our team,” said Gervais Rioux, company’s founder and president. “The Tour de France is the undisputed benchmark. It’s an important step for us, since it secures Argon 18’s position among the world’s top brands. We were excited to announce that we had reached an agreement with a team that is currently participating in the Tour de France.”

The 25-year-old company is no stranger to sponsoring professional teams. Currently, riders of two continental North American teams—Quebec’s Silber Pro Cycling and Jelly Belly Cycling presented by Maxxis—have Argon 18s in their stables. In February 2013, Argon 18 announced at three-year partnership with the National Cycling Centre in Hamilton. That agreement secured such bikes as Electron, Electron Pro, Krypton, Xenon, Gallium Pro and E-114 for the organization that develops young riders. Canada’s last pro continental team, SpiderTech powered by C10, had Argon 18 as a sponsor.
