Mountain biker encounters Lady Gaga in Houston park ahead of Super Bowl LI performance
You never know who you'll bump into while out for a ride in the woods
On Saturday, the day before the Super Bowl, a Reddit user who goes by the name of ThatGuyinHouston or Mike according to his Strava profile, was out for a mountain bike ride in Memorial Park in Houston, Texas. The park is less than 5 km from the NRG Stadium where the next day the New England Patriots would defeat the Atlanta Falcons to win Super Bowl LI in a historic overtime comeback. American singer Lady Gaga was the halftime performer and drew the second-most viewers ever for Super Bowl halftime performance according to Billboard.
Mike and his friend David were riding along the trails in the park when a women stopped the pair and said with excitement, “Did you see Lady Gaga? That was her, right back there in the pink shorts!”
After a short exchange and a bit of encouragement from the pair of cyclists, the young women headed back to get a picture with Lady Gaga. The pair of friends who had ridden right past the star performer shortly after did the same. When they caught up they saw the young women posing for a selfie with Lady Gaga as they exchanged friendly words.
“Hey, shes’s going to ride my bike,” Mike joked as he handed his phone to his friend David who he was riding with . Lady Gaga responded, “Ride your bike? I don’t know if I can.” Lady Gaga who performed for about 13 minutes during the Super Bowl halftime posed for a couple of picture with the cyclist.
The Reddit user says he was surprised Lady Gaga was not with more security just a gentleman who asked them not to take any video. “Lady Gaga still treats people who approach her as though she understands why and does what she can to please them,” Mike wrote.
