Three separate groups of mountain bikers in Squamish, B.C. spotted a cougar on the trails around Alice Lake over the weekend. Conservation officer Chris Doyle said in each case, the cougar was difficult to scare off and showed considerable interest in the humans. He said three cougar sightings in one day is unusual and the aggressive attitude of the animal may suggest it is no longer afraid of people. His advice: if you see the cougar while riding, face it and try to threaten it away. He said running from a cougar is a very bad idea.
