Parisien fourth in Tre Valli Varesine

SpiderTech down three after USA Pro Cycling Challenge opener.

Team SpiderTech powered by C10 is banking some impressive international results during the second half of the season. Most recently, Francois Parisien placed fourth in the UCI 1.HC Tre Valli Varesine in Italy.

The 200 km event was the last of a series of one-day races held in the Lombardy region. Parisien was involved in a successful breakaway that included 15 riders.

Canada’s David Veilleux (Europcar) was in the move and attacked the breakaway to win the race solo. Runner-up Andrea Palini (Idea) won the breakaway sprint for second place and Danilo Di Luca (Acqua & Sapone) was third.

“I’m really happy with the race today. To see Dave win and how the guys set me up for my result—it’s fantastic for Canadian cycling,” said Parisien. “For me, this is my best-ever race in Europe at this level. The team was fantastic today. It’s been a hard year for me, with injury. Steve [Bauer] and the team showed me so much support during my rehab. In many ways, these past few races [Elk Grove andTrittico Lombardo] are a big thank you to the team for that support.”

His near-podium performance in the high-profile event comes after a stellar victory at the Tour of Elk Grove, a three-day race held in Chicago earlier this month.

On a less fortunate note, the SpiderTech roster competing at the USA Pro Cycling Challenge in Colorado this week lost three riders during the opening stage. Riders Flavio de Luna, who is injured, recent Olympian Zach Bell and David Boily, who is ill, were unable to finish the first stage held from Durango to Telluride.

Lucas Euser was the highest placed teammate in 28th followed by Caleb Fairly, Hugo Houle, Ryan Roth and Brian Vandborg.
