“I am really excited to make up for a tough day yesterday with the help of all my teammates,” said Glaesser. “We defended our jerseys and got the stage win, which is what we set out to do. I am looking forward to fighting through the last half of the race to keep the momentum going towards the Amgen Tour of California.”

Zack Allison of Elevate Cycling had been involved in a crash in Stage 1 because of a dog that ran out in front of the group he was riding in with four kilometres left in the stage. Allison apparently flagged down a fan who was riding down the final climb and traded bikes with him. He hopped on the ’82 Specialized Stump Jumper and rode it to the finish line. Allison was able to finish the stage and posted a photo after on his Instagram account with the distinctively non-racy bike outfitted with a rack and flat bar.

The four stage race continued with the 26.6-km Stage 3 individual time trial and finishes on Saturday with a criterium in Silver City.
