The 11 Inc. and Silber Pro Cycling have announced a multilevel partnership that will see the Toronto-based bike shop provide financial support and bike fittings to Silber athletes in the coming years. Additionally, the partnership will see Silber and the 11 Inc. work together on forthcoming events.

Heath Cockburn, owner of the 11 Inc., expressed extreme confidence in the athletes and management that form Silber. “Scott McFarlane, Kevin Field and Gord Fraser are all amazing people. With them at the head of affairs when they expect to win, they will go out and do it,” said Cockburn. On Matteo Dal-Cin becoming the first Canadian to win the Redlands Classic, Cockburn said that with an organisation that understood the sport so intimately and with so much potential, success like that is expected.

“I am a huge fan of Benjamin Perry,” said Cockburn about the Silber rider who is U23 Canadian road champion and won the climber’s jersey at the Tour of Alberta in 2015. “He is a tremendous kid. I asked him to come out to do a charity event with me a few yeara ago but he didn’t know if he could afford gas. When there is someone with that much talent who is willing to give back to strangers, that is someone you want to help.”  Ryan Roth is also someone who Cockburn expressed great respect for.

The partnership began when Silber was in need of some equipment. “I initially phoned Heath Cockburn because I needed his help with pedals” said Scott McFarlane, Silber’s principle owner. “Heath stepped up as a significant sponsor providing more than just the pedals and promised to help us acquire a saddle sponsor–which he did. By the end of the call, the two of us also discussed a collaborative event-driven project for the fall. Working with Heath is like that. He’s passionate and knowledgeable about the sport and he’s also a problem solver.”

Additionally, Cockburn’s work at providing bike fits for Roth and Perry before doing wind tunnel testing and work at the Milton velodrome presented another avenue where the 11 Inc. hopes to continue to support Silber.

By filling this hole and providing support Silber’s athletes, Cockburn is looking forward to the teams future success and  continuing to work with the team. “I think Silber are perfectly eligible to do something like the Tour of California,” said Cockburn. “I am confident this is the Canadian team that is capable of getting to that level.”
