Team Ontario dominates ITT at Canada Summer Games

The individual time trials kicked off the road cycling events at the Canada Summer Games on Monday in Sainte-Catherine-de-Hatley, Que. Team Ontario dominated with Annie Foreman-Mackey and Matteo Alexander Dal-Cin winning the women’s and men’s races respectively.

Foreman-Mackey posted the fastest time of 21:46:42 minutes over the women’s 15.6-km event and Dal-Cin won the men’s 20.4-km race in 24:58:86 minutes.

“I can’t really believe it yet,” Foreman-Mackey said. “I sort of feel sick to my stomach right now. I am really excited and it was a great race. I am really happy.”

“I am pretty happy,” Dal-Cin said. “It was a pretty nice ride and it was fun to have my family here. I couldn’t have asked for a course more tailored for me.”

The Canada Summer Games started on Aug. 2 and conclude on Aug. 17 in Sherbrooke, Que.

The cross country events took place on Aug. 3 in Mont Bellevue where Team Québec’s Léandre Bouchard and Frédérique Trudel won. The mountain bike team relays were held on Aug. 5 where Team Ontario won the women’s race and Team Québec won the men’s race. On Aug. 7, Andréane Lanthier Nadeau from Team Québec won the women’s mountain bike sprint eliminator and her teammate Bouchard won the men’s event.

The road events will continue on Aug. 14 with the men’s and women’s road races held outside of Sherbrooke. The men’s and women’s criteriums will conclude the Canada Summer Games on Aug. 17 in Jacques-Cartier – Sherbrooke.
