Van den Ham wins Cycle-Smart International

Saturday saw Canadian Michael van den Ham prevail on the first day of the 25th Cycle-Smart International cyclocross race in Northampton, Massachusetts’ Look Park. The Cycle-Smart race is the oldest UCI cyclocross event in North America.

In the morning Van den Ham was pleased to be back in Northampton.

Van den Ham took the win in the elite men’s race by 4-seconds over Red Truck-Garneau teammate and Canadian champion Raphael Gagné. The Red Truck duo worked in concert to pull away from their competitors. Hot Sauce Cycling’s Mark McConnell slotted into 4th, 22-seconds behind van den Ham.

On the women’s side American Ellen Noble of JAM Fund triumphed, with Emma White of Cyclocrossworld Devo 33-seconds in arrears. Noble won the Under-23 Pan Am Championship last weekend in Covington, Kentucky.

Saturday and Sunday’s races are rounds 3 and 4 of the Verge New England Cyclocross Series.
