Watch: Brett Rheeder’s Crankworx Joyride winning run

The top-three runs including the Mount-Albert, Ont. natives winning run against some of the world's best slopestyle athletes

Brett Rheeder of Mount Albert, Ont. put in an almost perfect run to win the Joyride at the 2016 edition of Crankworx  hosted at Whistler Mountain. The 23-year-old who in 2013 won a gold medal in slopestyle at X-Games in Munich, Germany won the Red Bull Joyride at Crankworx for the first time in his career on Sunday.

First place – Brett Rheeder

With a nearly flawless run from top to bottom he won with a score of 93.00. The Canadian’s impressive run included a combination of big tricks including a backflip barspin to opposite tailwhip in the early stages of his run, a cork 720 which is one of his signature moves, and a highly technical finish with a front flip onto the final 30-feet tall feature followed up with a backflip off into the finish area below.

Second place – Thomas Genon

Second to Rheeder was Belgian Thomas Genon with a run that gave him a score of 91.20 on the day. The winner of Freeride Mountain Bike World Tour Montpellier also had an impressive run with some big tricks.

Third place – Max Fredriksson

21-year-old Swede Max Fredriksson was making his Red Bull Joyride debut, placing third with a score of 89.80.
