Molly’s entry

I make the most out of riding in Southern Ontario is pretty great. I’m on the road five of seven days every week (outside of a daily commute).

The thing is, we’re also spoiled. We Torontonians don’t have much of a concept of hills. Oh sure, we complain about Brimley Road and Ellis Avenue, which will be part of the Pam Am Games road race. We roll ourselves out to the far reaches of Keele Street to enjoy some rollers. We race in Niagara on the infamous Effingham Hill—but deep down, we all know these hills are peanuts compared to the terrain in Europe.

What better place to experience the real deal than Italy? Home to the Patron Saint of Cyclists Madonna del Ghisallo? It’s the dream, no if’s and’s or but’s.

To demonstrate my point, I’m including a photo from my recent race at Crashbank Springbank, which was a fierce crit with a “hill” or two.
