Another fine performance from Canadian men’s team pursuit squad

Will race for gold in Apeldoorn on Saturday

One week after earning Canada’s first UCI track cycling World Cup men’s team pursuit medal in Glasgow, Scotland, the Canadians once more impressed in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands. This second World Cup comes before a long break until mid-February.

In Friday’s qualifying, Aiden Caves, Adam Jamieson, Jay Lamoureux and Bayley Simpson were paired up with France, who they faced in Glasgow’s first round last week. France, silver medalists in Glasgow, set the fastest time with 4:02:046 and Canada was fourth with 4:02.328. Again, they had to face France in the first round later in the day.

With Ed Veal in for Simpson, Canada then whipped the French, setting the best time in the first round with 4:02.76. This sets up the gold medal match with Belgium on Saturday. France and Poland will vie for the bronze.

Adam Jamieson will also contest the points race on Saturday.
