Cyclists in Vancouver, B.C. can be proud of their community this morning, after a two-wheeling “Good Samaritan” saved a drowning man near Granville Island.
According to a report published by the CBC, the young rider heard “groans” coming from the waters of False Creek, between Granville Island and mainland Vancouver. Investigating, he saw the victim holding fast to a floating dinghy, then parked his bike and helped pull the man out of the water. The individual, the report continued, showed signs of having been in the ocean for hours by that point.
When he was safely ashore, the man was only semi-conscious before firefighters arrived shortly after dawn to take care of the hypothermic individual. In notably humble fashion, the cyclist declined to give the CBC his name, the report said, but wished journalists a good day and continued on his ride.
