First look at the bikes and team kits of the 2019 WorldTour

The 18 men's WorldTour teams have new looks and new whips to start 2019

The 2019 men’s cycling WorldTour season starts at the Tour Down Under on Jan. 15. It will be the first time all 18 teams are in action on their new bikes and in their new kit. The only change major change amoung the teams is BMC is replaced by Team CCC which was formed in a merger with the former. Otherwise a few teams welcome in new title sponsors but most teams will be familiar to cycling fans.

Many teams have opted to stay with the same equipment sponsors for 2019 but there are a few notable exceptions. Dimension Data are now on BMC instead of Cervélo, Team Sunweb are on Cervélo instead of Giant and Team CCC are on Giant instead of BMC. The only other team aboard a new bike is AG2R-La Mondial who see Eddy Merckx’s bike brand enter the pro peloton.

Of course, bikes are not the only changes. More teams have made alterations to their kits. Fades are definitely in with Team Sky, Sunweb, Astana, Movistar and Team CCC all sporting a gradual change of colour on the upper part of their apparel. Red and white seem to be the most popular predominant colours of kits.

The only team that hasn’t yet unveiled their 2019 kit is EF Education First Pro Cycling who have been training and racing in blacked out kit since the new year. The new kit will be unveiled before the Tour Down Under. Once all the kits are unveiled stay tuned for our definitive ranking of the WorldTour team kits.

The WorldTour season continues a week later after the Tour Down Under with the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race before a near month long hiatus before the UAE Tour which was formed by a merger between the Abu Dhabi Tour and Dubai Tour. Cycling fans will truely celebrate the beginning of the cycling season on Marhc 2 with Omloop Het Nieuwsblad followed the next day by Kuurne-Bruxelles-Kuurne which usher in the greatly anticipated Spring Classics.
