Lazer unveils G1 superlight helmet for Yorkshire worlds
Sub-200 gram helmet will be raced by select national team riders during championship road races
Belgian helmet maker Lazer is celebrating UCI Road World Championships with the release of the G1, its lightest helmet yet.
The Lazer G1, which will be sold as the Genesis outside Canada and the US, mixes featherweight and aerodynamic performance. At just 189 grams, it is designed for the worlds fastest cyclists. Select national team riders will be wearing the superlight helmet this weekend in Yorkshire.

While the G1 is being released on time for road worlds, Lazer says the helmet has broader applications. Road, gravel and even mountain biking are within the scope of the feathery helmets intended use.
The G1 sheds grams by using a lighter version of Lazer’s Advanced Rollsys System, which provides easy 360-degree fit adjustment via a small roller on the top-rear of the helmet. The helmet will ship with both Race and Comfort padding, so you can choose to shave extra grams or have a slightly more comfortable ride.
If you’re really focused on aero gains, Lazer’s Aeroshell can be used with the G1. The added shell can be used for strictly aerodynamic purposes, giving a lightweight aero advantage. Or, during colder rides, the shell works a way to shield your head from the elements and hold in warmth that would otherwise flow out through the helmets 22 vents.
The Lazer G1 is available in both MIPS and non-MIPS versions. The feathery-light helmet is expected to be available in November 2019.
