Charlotte Kool takes Stage 1 of RideLondon Classique
Dutch rider takes a big win in race opener

(Trek – Segafredo).

The first day of racing was a 146.4 km stage fromSaffron Walden to Colchester. The flat stage saw several breakaway attempts, but it all came together for a bunch gallop for the sprinter’s teams.
Kool now leads overall, as well as the points competition. Hanna Johansson
(Torelli) is leading the queen of the mountains competition.
Top Canadian was Simone Boilard (St Michel – Mavic – Auber93 WE) who finished 27th with the same time as Kool. Maggie Coles-Lyster made her debut with her new squad, Israel Premier Tech Roland, finishing in the bunch in 45th.
