Jon Mozell landed his first World Cup podium on Friday, storming through a massive run in Les Gets, France. It’s the Forbidden Synthesis racer’s first year on the World Cup circuit.

While Rossland’s Bodhi Kuhn, until recently leading the World Cup standings, is sitting out this weekend, the rest of the Canadians were ready to step up. After qualifying 13th on Thursday, Mozell found a huge turn of speed for finals. The Forbidden racer put down the day’s second fastest time, earning silver in Les Gets. The only rider that could beat the Canuck’s time was current World Cup leader Ryan Pinkerton (GT-Continental) of the U.S.A.. Evan Medcalf (Evolve) completed the North American podium sweep, joining his fellow U.S. racer on the box in third.

Mozell wasn’t the only Canadian stepping up for finals. Dane Jewett (Pivot Factory Racing) stepped up from 20th in qualifying to take a top-10 finish in eighth. Dylan Marino followed in 15th, Jake Polito 18th, and Jack Macleod 25th, all for Outlaw United.

The junior women’s race was won by Transition Factory Racing’s Valentina Roa Sanchez by a solid 3.398-second margin. Sacha Mills of New Zealand and Lais Bonnaure of France rounded out the podium.
