Revelstoke lands only Canadian stop of EWS Continental Series

Prepare to get stoked as B.C. mountain town hosts international level racing

Canada’s international level enduro Calendar just doubled in size. Revelstoke, B.C. has been announced as one of three stops on the North American Enduro Series (NAES), and the only Canadian date.

The new event joins the Canadian Open Enduro EWS, the only other international enduro event in Canada.

Revelstoke joins two American stops on the NAES calendar. Arkansas hosts the first round of continental racing at Eureka Springs on May 18. The series then heads north to Revelstoke for the second event, which is also part of the Norco Canadian National Enduro Series, to be held June 16th.

The small mountain town’s famous trails need little introduction, and Norco CNES race organizer Ted Morton is excited for more riders will have the chance to experience the ‘Stoke. “The reason we chose to host a North American Enduro Series round is truly to represent Canada on the global stage,” says Morton.

Like all CNES races, the Revelstoke round will be donating back to the host community. “The Revelstoke Cycling Association (RCA) is the life blood behind these amazing trails, as such every rider of the race is being asked to become a member of this notoriously hard working club. The goal is to raise more than $10,000 for the trails in Revelstoke!”

The town is already well versed in hosting enduro races. Trans BC Enduro and Canadian National Enduro Series have both made stops in Revelstoke, as well as North America’s first-ever helicopter supported Enduro.

2019’s final NAES stop returns to the U.S. on September 15. The exact location remains a secret, closely guarded by the EWS with a Press Release promising it will be worth the wait to find out details.

The NAES is new for 2019, matching other continental series run under the Enduro World Series umbrella. The EWS introduced the the continental series’ to bridge the growing gap between regional races, including EWS Qualifier events, and the pro-level EWS stops. Results from the three-stop series will determine the first ever North American Enduro Champions. NAES events are also an opportunity for racers to earn EWS points, used to qualify for the full EWS in 2020.

Canada currently hosts one EWS event, Whistler’s Canadian Open Enduro. Often known as Crankzilla for its formidable difficulty and date coinciding with Crankworx Whistler, the Canadian Open has been the only consistent EWS stop in North America from year to year.

Registration for the Revelstoke round of the NAES and Norco CNES is open now at the CNES website.
