My bike Monday: Look 795 Light Proteam

Integrated for all-out speed with an edgy look that will turn heads

Look 795 Aerolight Proteam

Look 795 Aerolight Proteam
Look is an iconic French bicycle brand. American Greg Lemond won the 1986 Tour de France atop the companies first carbon fiber frame and the brand is well known for being the creators of clipless pedals. In 2015, the Look 795 Aerolight was released with a level of integration that clearly indicated it prioritized speed over all else. With an edgy and unconventional design, the frameset uses component integration and aero-tubes to make the bike slip through the air effortlessly. Without integrated brakes, this Light has standard brake calipers that are easier to service and don’t take anything away from the bikes unique look. I had the opportunity to check out a custom built Look 795 Light Proteam at The 11 Inc. and here is what made this stunning build stand out.

As would be expected with any top-end aero frame, a high level of integration is present. What makes the frame so eye-catching is the monobloc carbon stem which sits flush with the head tube and top tube. The aero handlebar helps the bike slip through the air and also adds to the bikes aggressive appearance. In order to reduce air turbulence, the frameset’s tubes are tear drop shaped. The weight penalty that is often associated with aero frames is certainly minimalized using a top-end carbon layup. The bike is designed to be stiff and fast. The custom The 11 Inc. build definitely compliments this goal and with the fun, top-of-the-line SRAM Red eTap groupset it is finished with cutting edge components.

This build doesn’t take full advantage of the internal cable routing available since it uses the SRAM Red eTap groupset but with a wireless groupset that is sharp and easy to use it’s certainly a cool bike to ride. The Light doesn’t have the same level of brake integration as the Aerolight but this makes it easier to make adjustments on the fly. With Mavic Cosmic Carbon wheels and tubular tires, this is a thoroughbred speed machine. This top-end build comes with a high price tag but for the money you get a bike that is impeccably built with the best components available. It’s definitely an eye-catcher and comes with a $16,000 sticker. Check out more builds at The 11 Inc. where you may just find your next top-end dream race machine.
