To set the stage, it’s the 1982 Tour de France and according to HBO’s upcoming cycling mockumentary, everyone is on drugs. HBO’s Tour de Pharmacy, which recently dropped its trailer, is comedian Andy Samberg’s latest sports mockumentary and focuses on cycling’s doping-tainted past. The film is star-studded and promises to be as bizarre as it is hilarious and hard-hitting in providing viewers a comical look at cycling’s doping scandals in the golden age of pharmaceutical cheating in the sport.

“How do you beat a man on drugs if you are not on drugs?” Orlando Bloom’s character muses in front of a gaggle of reporters. One interjects, “Wait, did you just admit to being on drugs?” A question at which Bloom’s character simply gawks at with an open mouth.

The film promises laughs as it explores cycling’s doping scandals with a stacked cast of cameos and a odd selection of commentators that includes comedian Maya Rudolph, rapper Daveed Diggs, the Cosby Show’s Phylicia Rashad, professional wrestler John Cena, actor Dolph Lundgren, former professional boxer Mike Tyson, actor Julia Ormond and a host of other personalities. One familiar face for cyclists will be Lance Armstrong who even stops by to offer up the inside scoop.

If the trailer is anything to go on, it promises to make relentless fun of the sport. The film was created by Andy Samberg and Murray Miller. It will premiere on July 8, 2017 on HBO, one week into the Tour de France. The director is Jake Szymanski.
