Lex Albrecht leads QOM and Allison Jackson takes stage win at Trophée d’Or Féminin, RaceClean victorious in Belgium

Team RaceClean took the overall win at the Ronde van Oost Vlaanderen, Christian Meier won the KOM classification at the Arnhem-Veenendal Classic

Trophée d’Or Féminin

Heading into the final stage of the Trophée d’Or Féminin, Lex Albrecht of BePink is at the head of the queen of the mountains competition. Albrecht took the jersey on Stage 3, a stage which fellow Canadian Allison Jackson won in a reduced bunch sprint in Cosne-Cours-sur-Loire. Jackson, who is guest riding for the BePink team outsprinted France’s Elise Delzenne of Lotto-Soudal Ladies who continues to lead the race after four stages, and Stage 2 and Stage 4 winner Italian Marta Bastianelli of Alé Cipollini.

The 95-km Stage 3 took the peloton over five categorized climbs around the town of Saint-Satur on the banks of the Loire river. Daiva Tuslaite of Inpa – Bianchi sits second in the QOM competition with only a one point gap separating her from Albrecht. The race wraps up on Wednesday with a 100-km stage from Saint-Doulchard to Orval.

Adam Jamieson of Team RaceClean won the points classification at the GP Marbriers where he finished sixth. The bigger result for the team however was the general classification win at the Belgian six-stage race the Ronde van Oost Vlaanderen. On August 21 William Elliott, who raced aggressively throughout took the win in the races final stage faulting him to the overall victory also taking home the races cobbled classification and most aggressive award. Edward Walsh finished fifth overall having come second behind his teammate on the races last stage.

Arnhem-Veenendal Classic

On August 19, Christian Meier of Orica-BikeExchange won the climbing jersey at the Arnhem-Veenendal Classic won by Dylan Groenewegen of LottoNL-Jumbo. Meier was one of the day’s protagonists making the breakaway which gained a maximum advantage of four minutes staying away for 130-km.

Orica-BikeExchange sports director Dave McPartland was content with his team’s effort. “It was a very fast start to the race,” said McPartland. “We were right at the front for much of the first hour with Amets Txurruka before Christian (Meier) got into the breakaway and thing settled down.

“Christian rode well and it’s nice for him to have animated the race and take the KOM points jersey to have something to show for his efforts.

“The whole team rode very well and it was very pleasing to see Mitch (Docker) have a good hit out for himself in the sprint and in the end he came very close to the podium against top quality sprinters.”
